The decathlon will consist of several competitions.  Some are team competitions and some are individual competitions.  A few you can prepare for in advance.  There are others you will have to prepare in advance.  Take note below. 

Imovie Video Contest

The video Contest must be prepared in advance and uploaded to be scored by March 31, 2025.  Winners will be announce during Decathlon from May 6-9.

Math - (Multiple Choice)

The math test will be multiple choice. The score will be how many answers are correct divided by the top student's correct answers for each grade level

Geography - (Accuracy and Timing)

During the decathlon, the students will get one of the many activities to perform, so we recommend they practice the geography games. Work on these and improve on accuracy and time. Grades 6-8 will get a USA geography activity. Grades 9-12 will get one of the World or Continent activities. You an access these actives on the link

Keyboarding - (Accuracy & Timing)

There will be a timed typing test. Practice the lessons using the website Typing.com and practice trying to improve time and accuracy. Also practice the timed tests.

Speech - (Scoring Guide)

The speeches need to be prepared in advance and brought in to decathlon. Students will give their speeches in round 1 in front of 2-3 judges. If they do well enough, the top ten students in each grade will have an opportunity to give their speech again in a round 2. The better of the two scores will be counted. Although kids can prepare their speeches by hand or computer and print out on paper, we recommend that they write their speeches on 3x5 cards and use that when competing. Essay - (Scoring Guide)

The Essay competition will be given during decathlon, but students can have the essay prompt in advance and be allowed to develop 1 - 3x5 note card and bring in with them during the competion. The essay will need to be handwritten. 2 judges will score the essay.  If their is a wide discrepancy between the two judges scores, a third judge will score the essay.
